Money in Minutes

Frequently asked questions

Everything people usually ask before their first transfer — rates, fees, timing, and what to do if something's unusual.

What does Money in Minutes do?

Money in Minutes is a remittance service built to solve a simple problem: getting money to the people you care about, quickly, no matter where you both are.

It was started by an international student who needed a faster way to support family back home while studying abroad. Since 2024, it has grown to help thousands of people — from expats working overseas to students in their first year abroad — send money home reliably.

The focus has stayed the same since day one: speed, safety, and treating every transfer as a specific person's situation, not a ticket number. Agents are available Monday–Saturday, 8AM–6PM (UTC+2) for standard transfers, and every day, 8AM–9PM (UTC+2), for Business & Emergency transfers.

What is the process like for international remittance?

The process depends on where you're sending from and where you're sending to, since different countries use different payment methods — you can see what's available for each on our countries page.

The core flow is the same everywhere: choose your sending country and method, your recipient's country and method, and then confirm whether it's a Normal transfer or an Emergency transfer.

How is the rate calculated, and how is the fee calculated?

The exchange rate applied is the market rate for that currency pair on the day — we don't add a markup or take a cut from the rate itself.

The fee is separate and simple: $6 flat for any transfer under $100, and 6% for any transfer of $100 or more (see the fees page for worked examples).

For example: sending $2,000 to Tanzania at a rate of 2,640 TZS per dollar — the fee (6% of $2,000) is $120, added on top of what you send. You'd pay $2,120 in total, and your recipient receives the full $2,000 converted: 2,000 × 2,640 = 5,280,000 TZS.

How long will it take to receive €500 sent from France to Burundi?

It depends which setting you choose:

  • Emergency transfer — for any transfer under $10,000, this is done in under 15 minutes, regardless of the corridor (France to Burundi, USA to Kenya, Australia to Uganda — the timing is the same).
  • Normal transfer — timing depends on how many transfers are ahead of yours in the queue. Your agent will tell you where you stand, but it's always completed within the hour.
What time is Money in Minutes open?

Normal transfers (6% fee): Monday to Saturday, 8AM–6PM (UTC+2).

Business & Emergency transfers (10% fee): every day, 8AM–9PM (UTC+2).

What's the procedure and fee for an Emergency transfer from the UK to Senegal?

An Emergency transfer is for when you need money sent in the next 15 minutes — for situations where speed isn't just convenient, it's necessary.

Your case is moved ahead of transfers already in the queue, and a designated agent stays with you on the line until it's done — including outside normal hours or on a day off.

The process is the same as any transfer; the difference is the fee, which is 10% instead of 6% for Emergency transfers.

How long does an Emergency transfer from Canada to Congo take?

The same as any Emergency transfer, regardless of corridor — Canada to Congo, France to Rwanda, Turkey to South Africa — it's completed within 15 minutes, as long as it's received during Emergency hours: 8AM–9PM (UTC+2), every day.

What happens if money is sent to a Money in Minutes account after working hours?

Your money is safe. Keep proof of the transaction, and provide it to your agent the next working day — your transfer will be verified like any other and processed without further delay.

What's the refund process like?

If you need to cancel — for example, your supplier changes the terms of an agreement — and Money in Minutes hasn't paid your amount out yet, you'll be fully refunded the amount sent to our accounts.

What's the rate for Euro to Zambian Kwacha?

Use the free currency calculator on our fees page or the one embedded on the homepage — it works for any currency pair, no email or phone number required.
